Bummer. No Howard Dean Today!!!!!

Wed May 25, 2005 at 07:20:12 AM PDT

My wife and I had asked off work so we could attend a cookout at Democratic Headquarters here in WV so we could finally see Dean in person.

Just got an email saying his flight was delayed and he is not going to be there. Guess we will stay at work since most of our state (d)emocratic leaders are from the republican wing of the Democratic party unlike Dean.

Hope he makes it back here sometime. Dean, if you are out there reading somewhere you owe us a visit!

  •  Dean in NYC Tonight (none / 0)

Given the cruddy weather throughout much of the Northeast today, he may be playing it safe and not moving around too much.  On top of that, he's probably decided that if an event has to be canceled, it shouldn't be the one bringing in the big money (like it or not, in off-years the DNC is even more dependent on bulk donations).  There's a fundraising event at 6:30 this evening in New York City at $250 per person (although a donation of $5000 will get you 50 tickets), and I'd bet that unless Dr. Dean is completely grounded on the other side of the country, that's the only thing left on his plate for today outside DC.

You and your wife should get in touch with the DNC to find out when the Good Doctor will make it back out to WV.  It's not as though it's a long trip out from DC.  Here's the DNC contact form.

Can you smell the Constitution burning?

  •  I'm keeping on top of it (none / 0)

The WV Democratic Party sent us an email about it and I responded for them to let us know if he reschedules.

This was for the faithful, but it always hurts when somebody cancels.

A few years back there was a hugely popular candidate for governor here that almost knocked off a standing governor in the primaries. However when she won the primaries in the next cycle and ran for governor whoever was doing her scheduling kept standing people up, while her opponent was always there if scheduled. It turned people off and she lost.

I hope this doesn't hurt the Dems here in the state because we are really the one state that has a serious chance to turn blue again in the presidential bid if we are not written off.

He spoke to the crowd over the phone speaker, but there were lots of people who took off work and traveled long distances to go and they were PISSED!
